Reasons Why I Love Being Pregnant

In sketching out ideas for this here blog I looked down my list and realized that I am going to be doing a lot of whining about my pregnancy and I'm only 13 weeks in. So as a preemptive strike I have decided to start chronicling the things I like about being pregnant, just so I can stay positive.

So here are 5 things that I enjoy about being pregnant

1. I can now have this in my fridge without feeling guilty.

(Fresh, warm, home baked cookies every night, YES PLEASE)

2. Expectant Mother Parking
It's like Christmas every time I find one of these signs while cruising for a parking spot.

3. Full Panel Maternity Pants
Now I've heard women complain about panel pants forever. I was expecting something awful, bulky and uncomfortable. OH MY GOD, these are the most comfortable pants EVER! It's like wearing super-stylish sweat pants. I may never going back to wearing regular pants again.

4. Ultrasounds

Being able to see my unborn children is a joy that I can't even describe. While right now it's too soon to feel them move and the only signs of pregnancy is weight gain and gas, seeing them on the screen makes it all a little more real.

5. These people

These are my in-laws and they are truly wonderful people. They have done so much for my husband and I and always give so selfishly of themselves. The look on their faces when we told them we were pregnant is something I will cherish forever. My children are going to be so lucky (and so insanely spoiled) by these two. I really look forward to the moments they will share together.

Boy did I pick a hell of a time to start this blog

So it's been a little while since my last entry, almost 2 months to be exact. I wrote my first blog on August 30, on September 1 I found out I was pregnant. I tried to stay calm those first few weeks, we only told our closest friends, siblings and parents. Life was moving so fast at that time that I didn't have the time to blog, save for the most frustrating day of my life. So now we are in week 13, the whole world knows about the pregnancy, and if you didn't know Hello, my name is Jennifer and this is my blog. I am pregnant. With twins. No, I'm not kidding, and now you know.

I feel a little safer talking about my pregnancy now that I've moved into my 2nd trimester. Before I was afraid to blog least something should happen but now I feel a little more relaxed about the whole thing. I'm still worried with the idea of twins, sometimes having some medical knowledge is a bad thing. I've actually blocked my favorite channel, Discovery Health, from my TV so I don't watch those medical shows. You know the ones where you go in to have a splinter removed and the next thing you know they are doing CPR and wheeling in the defibrillator. Yeah, I can't watch those anymore. So I'm trying to stay relaxed and not get too worried about the little things. Thankfully I get to have lots of ultrasounds of my babies to monitor their growth and I live to see them and know that they are ok. We're due on May 9 but more than likely the little boogers will run out of room before then and come a little early, anytime after April 15 would be good. To answer you're next question we don't know if we are having boys or girls and we don't plan on finding out. Yes, we ARE going to be one of those annoying parents, I completely understand that it will put a damper on your baby shopping, but there are lots of cute things in green, yellow, brown and cream. As far as a preference I'd really love to split the difference and have one of each, I know if I have two girls my husband will insist on trying for a boy, and if we have two boys (Dear lord help me), I'd probably want to try for a girl if I haven't killed myself by then. I could go on and on about all the plans and such that we've made but I want to have something to write about the next time. So until then I'd love some ideas for names if you have any, for both boys and girls.
Love to All

Trying not to be a whiner.....

So today was a CRAPPY day. I didn't want the second post on my blog to be a whiny blog but I can't think of anything else to write and I'm in a crappy mood so just deal.
So today, I woke up with something large and red growing over my left eye. I have no idea what it is, all I know is it hurts.
ALOT
Did I mention that it's large and red and it's getting bigger. I think I will name him Pedro.
The next crappy thing that really ruined my day requires a bit of an explanation. I'll try and keep it simple.
I'm in college
I want to be a nurse
To get into nursing school you need certain classes (pre-reqs)
I have 3 pre-reqs left (YEA! light at the end of the tunnel)
Due to the economy and lack of teachers they only offered 4... four... as in not 5 but FOUR! Anatomy and Physiology (AP)classes this semester.
I need Anatomy and Physiology
900 other people also need Anatomy and Physiology (did I mention they only offered 4 classes this semester?)
Come registration day all the classes and waitlists for said classes were closed, as in full, as in you no get in.
There was a chance that I could sit-in a class and hope people dropped (these classes have a 30-45% drop rate, they are tough).
So I sat, in a 5 hour class, 2 days a week for the last four weeks and guess what? Only 2 people dropped, there were 4 of us who wanted to add.
There was a lottery drawing, I didn't get in.
Not getting into this class has skewed my school schedule and application process for nursing school. I was planning to apply fall 2010 for nursing school, now I will be taking AP 430 in the spring, AP431 in the fall and have to wait for Fall 2011 to apply to nursing school.
A whole year.
A wasted year.
Do you know how much a nurse makes in a year. That is all money that I will not make because someone didn't pick my name out of a hat.
I can't begin to tell you how disappointed and frustrated this all makes me. At the rate I'm going I'll be 35 before I finish school.
I feel old and depressed.
Tomorrow is another day I guess.
Tonight I'm throwing a pity party.

Well, Why the hell not?

I'm a blog whore, well maybe not a whore, that would indicate some participation in the activity. Let's just say up to this point I've been a blog voyeur and now (to use SVU-speak) I've escalated my profile. Starting a blog is something I've been thinking of for awhile now. I have a list of blogs I follow religiously, Dooce, Crazy Aunt Purl, The Lost Hawaiian, Poor Girl Eats Well, the list goes on and on. Not to mention my friends blogs that I follow. ( HI LILLIAN! HI AMY! HI LESLEY!) I just love having that little sneak peek into their lives (I believe I have mentioned that I am a cyber-stalker. Let's move on.) Not to mention the great writers that are out there who are bloggers, I always love me a good story and blogs are just full of great stories in bite-size chunks.

Well now with all the changes that have gone on in my life and will continue to go on I thought a blog will do two things.
1. Allow me to keep in better touch with friends and family
2. Keep my writing skills in shape since I'm at the point where all I am writing are lab reports and disease profiles and no one wants to get a Christmas card from me wishing them a Merry Christmas and H1N1 Free New Year for you and yours.... PS. Please wash your hands Love, Jen

So here I am, with a blog. I'm not going to put a ton of pressure on myself to update it regularly just yet (Hello part-time job and 13 units? Yeah, you're sucking at my free time) but just touch in every now and again when the mood strikes me.

If you're wondering about the name, it goes back to my Grandma Long. I moved to California from Florida (GO GATORS!) to be closer to her in the last few years of her life. Whenever I did something for her she would always say "You're a good girl Jennifer Land" and I would always respond with "I try, Grandma." Now I say the same thing to my husband. "Your a beautiful women, Wife," he says, "I try" I always say. So that's where the name of my blog came from. And that's what I'll continue to do here... Keep trying
